The Achievement Network, Ltd. (“ANet,” “we,” “us”) takes privacy very seriously. This document outlines the policies and procedures by which we collect, use, and safeguard private information that is collected on AchievementNetwork.org, my.AchievementNetwork.org, and other websites that we own which link to this policy (collectively “Sites”). This policy does not govern the information that we collect over the phone, by fax, or through any other means. All information and records pertaining to student information that we collect are protected as required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
Information We Collect
Visitors to the Sites have a number of avenues for voluntarily submitting information to us, including through online contact, information request, job application, and registration forms. These forms require the user to include personally identifiable information, such as an email address, name, address, phone number, resume, or other information.
For all users to the Site, we may collect information on website usage, including pages visited, number of visits, browser type, operating system, and your computer’s IP address. For users that have registered on the site and are logged in or users that have submitted personally identifiable information through forms, these data on website usage may be connected to your personally identifiable information. For users that have not logged in or submitted personally identifiable information, these data are collected on an anonymous basis.
We may choose to make online publishing tools available to you, including messaging systems, forums, and planning tools. You are solely responsible for the information and content that you submit through these tools. Unless a message is clearly marked as “PRIVATE,” you should assume that the message will be visible to all other members of the Sites, including any personally identifiable information that you submit. Submitted information will be connected to your account and therefore traceable to your personally identifiable information. You should exercise discretion when posting information through these tools.
How We Use the Information
We use the information we collect to answer inquiries about our services, respond to technical support questions, and engage in other correspondence with users of our Sites. We also use this information to monitor and analyze usage of the website, including on a personalized basis. We may use information on the characteristics of visitors’ computers including the browsers, screen sizes, and operating systems to enhance our products and improve our services. If we find abuses of the service, security risks, or safety concerns, we may use the information to identify the source of the problem and take action to prevent it. We also use this information to generate reports for internal management, customers, funders, and other parties about the usage of our site. Reports with personally identifiable information are restricted by this policy. Reports that do not contain any personally identifiable information—for example, reports that consist of aggregate information—are not restricted by this policy.
In order to provide our services, we share information with companies and organizations that perform services for us, including for example web hosting companies and web analytics companies. We do not rent or sell any personally identifiable information to third parties.
We may disclose personally identifiable information if we believe this action is required to 1) comply with the law 2) enforce the Terms of Service or other agreements that govern your use of the Sites or relationship with us or to 3) protect the personal safety of users of the Sites or members of the public.

Privacy of Children
Our sites operate in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We never knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 and no part of our website aims to serve or attract children under the age of 13. Visitors under 13 are strictly prohibited from using the website at any point for any reason.
Access to Information
We may allow registered users to access and update information provided to us through a registration profile. For information that is not able to be changed online, you can contact us at email@example.com to request that the information be updated.
We work hard to keep private data secure. Although we cannot guarantee the security of information, we have implemented a number of best practices in physical, electronic, and managerial security practices in order to prevent unauthorized access to private data. For example, when a user provides a password, that information is stored in an encrypted manner. We also use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) for portions of our Sites to transfer data securely. You can check whether SSL is active by looking for a “locked” padlock icon within your browser. Please be aware, however, that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect.
If you use a password to access the Sites, you responsible for keeping the password private and confidential. You must refrain from sharing it with other people. If you suspect your password has been misused in any way please notify us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
